The SC8801 is a synchronous four-switch buck-boost charge controller which also supports reverse operation. It can charge a battery at, above or below the input voltage range. It also supports buck-boost conversion in reverse direction with dynamic output voltage control function.The SC8801 operates over a wide input voltage range from 2.7 V to 40 V (42 V maximum) to support a variety of applications.The SC8801 employs current-mode control both in buck and boost modes of operation for superior load and line regulation. The switching frequency is programmed by an external resistor.

The SC8801 supports bi-directional operation, and the conduction direction can be controlled by DIR pin. It also offers programmable input and output current limit/monitor function and Dynamic Power Management. Other protection features include current limiting, input voltage regulation, output overvoltage protection (OVP), short circuit protection and thermal shutdown.The SC8801 is in a 32 pin 4x4 QFN package.
